Solutions Engineering Manager, APAC
Build and lead Solutions Engineering across APAC, from Singapore. Player-coach: hands-on delivery plus team building.
Pit turns operational intent into governed, production-grade internal software, using AI. We help enterprises run their operations on custom systems they can trust, replacing the "human middleware" of people manually bridging rigid SaaS tools. We are scaling from a handful of customer systems toward hundreds, and the only way we do that is through engineering leverage, not headcount.
We are establishing our presence in Asia-Pacific and need someone to build and lead Solutions Engineering in the region.
The Role
You will lead and manage the Solutions Engineering Team in APAC while staying hands-on with implementation yourself. This is a player-coach role. You will support the Managing Director for APAC on delivery and act as the bridge between the region and our Platform and AI Engineering teams at headquarters in Sweden.
You will be close to customers. That means supporting presales by talking directly to technical stakeholders at customers, earning their trust, designing solutions, and building prototypes when that is what it takes to win the deal. It also means building the team itself, sourcing and hiring Solutions Engineers, whether through direct hires or trusted IT consultants. The starting point is Singapore but the goal is to build a regional team.
What You Will Do
- Build, lead and manage the APAC Solutions Engineering team. Coach, mentor, and coordinate delivery, while remaining hands-on with implementation.
- Support the Managing Director for APAC on customer deliveries and regional planning.
- Act as the bridge to Platform and AI Engineering in Sweden. Escalate what the platform cannot yet support and bring regional insights back into the product development flywheel.
- Work directly with customers and their IT departments to gain trust, design solutions, and deliver high-impact systems from idea to production.
- Support presales. Run technical discovery, design solutions, and build prototypes when necessary to win customers.
- Source and hire Solutions Engineers for the region, through direct hiring or IT consultancy partners.
Required
- Solid software engineering background in TypeScript, with experience in React and Node.
- Knowledgeable in CI/CD tools and observability tooling across metrics, logs, and traces. Not just having used the tools, but knowing the best practices for reliably deploying enterprise software.
- Experience leading and managing engineers, with the willingness to stay hands-on.
- Strong communication and likeability. You build trust with serious enterprises, work directly with stakeholders from all functions and levels in both presales and delivery, adapt your style to the crowd, and put people at ease. Someone the customer is happy to join for lunch or after-work drinks.
- Ability to comprehend the incomprehensible. Customers have complex business workflows and fragile technical landscapes, and understanding implementation cases quickly is pivotal.
- Courage and self-confidence. You will scope and implement systems even when ambiguity exists, and be okay with that.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted software development.
- Fully fluent in English, based in Singapore and willing to operate throughout the APAC region.
Preferred
- Experience in enterprise or regulated environments where reliability, auditability, and compliance matter.
- Background in forward deployed engineering, solutions engineering, or technical consulting.
- Experience integrating with brownfield enterprise systems such as ERPs, data warehouses, and internal APIs. Familiarity with common enterprise integration patterns such as event sourcing, saga, and CQRS, as well as message queues and event streaming.
- Experience sourcing and managing IT consultants or building a team from scratch in a new region.
- Real understanding, not just exposure, of OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and SAML.
- Comfort with both modern and less glamorous enterprise API standards. REST and gRPC on the modern side, SOAP/WSDL and EDI on the legacy side.
- Familiarity with common architecture notation standards, both lightweight such as C4 and heavyweight such as UML and ArchiMate. Using the customer's notation style builds trust and speeds up communication.
- Professional proficiency in Mandarin Chinese or Japanese.
Not a Fit If
- You want to manage people full time and step away from writing code.
- You prefer a defined backlog over discovering and designing solutions directly with customers.
- You are uncomfortable being questioned by enterprise IT departments during presales.
- You expect a fully built team and established processes rather than building both yourself.
- You want to work in isolation from a central platform team rather than acting as the bridge to it.

About Pit
Pit is an early-stage team in Stockholm building the platform companies use to scale, maintain, and standardize what they build with AI. We're small, the problems are unsolved, and the next hires will define what this company becomes.
