Implementation Engineer
Turn signed-deal scope into reliable, production-grade systems on the Pit platform.
What Pit is
Pit is an AI product team as a service, on which enterprises build and run custom software that runs their business operations. Founded by the founders and CTO/AI leads of Voi, Klarna, iZettle, and hitta.se, Pit is now live with large enterprise customers across multibillion-dollar healthcare, mobility, telecom, and industrials businesses. Backed by a16z and 30 angels, including founders and leaders from Unity, Deel, King, Sana, Anthropic, OpenAI, Mercury, Permira, DST, Lakestar, the Wallenberg family, and others.
We are currently expanding our team with Implementation Engineers who help our customers build and run world-class software on the Pit platform.
Why this role exists
As an implementation engineer, you take over once a deal is signed and turn the agreed scope into a reliable, production-grade system on the Pit platform. Most of your code is written by coding agents, but you direct and validate it, so solid hands-on TypeScript and data modelling skills are non-negotiable. You stay in regular contact with customers through delivery and beyond, handling incidents once a system is live, so communication and people skills matter just as much as code quality. You may occasionally be involved earlier as well, in the pre-sales phase, to ensure a smooth handoff.
You collaborate closely with Platform Engineers to ensure novel customer systems are implemented in line with Pit best practices. You will also collaborate with the Platform team on how to improve the developer tools and workflow automations that help you in your work.
What you own
Your work includes:
- converting a signed-deal scope into concrete system structures and data models
- implementing production-ready applications on the Pit platform, primarily by directing coding agents and rigorously validating their output
- integrating customer data and systems, including messy legacy environments
- running validation sessions and demos with customer stakeholders throughout delivery
- feeding lessons from delivery back into Pit’s platform best practices and developer tooling
- managing delivered solutions throughout their lifecycle in collaboration with Platform Engineers, including monitoring, incident response, and occasional extensions and improvements
The biggest challenge will be shipping AI-coded systems that are genuinely production-grade, fast. This requires real engineering judgment, not just code review reflexes.
What success looks like
- Customers reach a reliable production system quickly after signing
- Complex workflows are automated correctly and hold up under real use
- Customers trust the implementation enough to expand their use of the platform
Qualifications
Required
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience building production systems in TypeScript/Node.js
- Demonstrated ability to critically read, review, and validate code, including code you didn’t write yourself
- Experience integrating with legacy systems, APIs, databases, and messy enterprise data landscapes
- Comfort navigating ambiguity. Although we pride ourselves on tightly scoped deals, you can still convert any remaining ambiguity into a relevant, buildable system design
- Skills and willingness to interact with customers on a daily basis: customer validation calls, explaining technical decisions clearly, and staying calm through production incidents
Preferred
- Experience in a customer-facing engineering role (solutions engineering, forward deployed engineering, technical consulting, or similar)
- Background working with enterprise customers in regulated or operationally complex industries
- Heavy hands-on experience with coding agents
- On-call or incident response experience
Not a fit if
- You prefer building in isolation. This role still requires regular collaboration with customers and platform teams
- Your technical experience is primarily theoretical or limited to greenfield projects or prototypes.
- You’re uncomfortable being the one accountable when systems you built break or need maintenance while in production.
